A website that introduces clients to solicitors and public access barristers by a simple click of the mouse is to be launched this autumn.
MrLawyer.co.uk is the brainchild of London barrister Jasvir Degun and two of his friends, property developer Param Singh and management consultant Onkar Khalsa.
It works in a similar way to the website RatePeople.com, which people use to find local tradespeople.
Prospective clients enter brief details of their problem and lawyer members then contact them quoting a price for different stages of the case or for the complete job in a format similar to that of a client care letter, Degun said.
The site is free for the public to use. Lawyers will pay either £5 per case or 2.5% of the quoted price.
Fareeda Jaleel, founder of FRJ Business and Marketing Solutions, said: ‘The days when people had a ‘family solicitor’ are all but gone.
‘The changes in the legal sector mean that firms need to dissect and understand their client relationships. If firms are able to work out how and why their clients are doing business with them, they can build for the future.’
